The Taproot Foundation is committed to being a responsible global citizen by respecting our environment and our impact on the planet. We aspire not only to live this ideal, but also to serve as a leader within our stakeholder community by setting an example for how to operate a successful organization while respecting the planet.

To this end, we incorporate these principles into our programs and operations:

• We limit the fuel consumption of our team by enabling Roots to work from home regularly, providing Commuter Checks and creating space for Roots to bike to work
• We site all of our offices in central locations near public transportation
• We design our programs to rely on virtual teaming to limit travel and commuting
• We provide digital, rather than print, copies of all policies and resources for the team and for programs
• We invest in moving programs and internal operations online to limit paper use and shipping
• When appropriate, we encourage our stakeholders – including volunteers, nonprofits, funders, and other partners – to follow our example
