Pro Bono Week 2021: Doubling Our Impact
Pro Bono Week is a global campaign that celebrates and activates pro bono service. Inspired by the American Bar Association’s National Celebration of Pro Bono, Taproot focuses attention on the pro bono movement each year in October.
Pro Bono Week allows us to recognize the commitment of the skilled volunteers providing the pro bono service, as well as the social change organizations harnessing that talent to move their missions forward. It also marks a time when the Taproot community challenges ourselves to find new and innovative ways to get nonprofits the support they need, for free.
This year, we set an ambitious goal for Pro Bono Week. We aimed to double our average weekly impact by creating 100+ pro bono connections during the week of October 24-30. And with your help, we did it!
How will we do it?
Our innovative virtual platform, Taproot Plus, connects social change organizations to a global network of volunteers who are ready to step up and support them. Here’s how you can get involved using Taproot Plus as your tool for impact:
- Business Professionals: Volunteer your expertise for social good. Submit one (or more!) volunteer applications during the week of October 24-30 to participate in our 100+ campaign. Sign up on Taproot Plus so you’re ready to take action.
- Nonprofit Organizations: Let us know how volunteers could best support you. Projects like building an employee handbook, designing a brochure, setting up budgeting software, conducting research, or developing a social media strategy are all great examples of ways to utilize talented Taproot volunteers. Request pro bono now so you’re ready for Pro Bono Week applicants.
- Small Businesses: Where could you use expert advice or brainstorming assistance? Taproot volunteers will be primed and ready to consult with you during Pro Bono Week so get those Session requests in now!
- Companies: Get your employees involved in the 100+ campaign! Pro bono is a fantastic way for team members to flex their skills in new ways, build empathy and project management experience, and expand their professional network. Let us know if your company is interested in participating. We’d be happy to share sample Pro Bono Week promotional materials to make things simple.
- Grant-makers: Let’s continue funneling capacity-building support to your grantees. We’d love to have your nonprofit partners join our Pro Bono Week webinar so they’re prepped and ready to take on skilled volunteer support during Pro Bono Week and beyond. Contact us for all the details.
We appreciate your support in making 100+ pro bono partnerships a reality!

Connect your community to pro bono service
Even though Pro Bono Week has ended, you can still spread the pro bono ethic.
- Encourage three social change organizations you care about (maybe your own!) to check out Taproot Plus, where these organizations can connect with skilled volunteers today.
- Share your pro bono experience at @taprootfound on Twitter. You may inspire someone to give back!
- Thank your organization’s skilled volunteers! Post a referral on their LinkedIn page or write a short blog about an outstanding contributor.
- Follow along on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn as we share stories of the impact pro bono has on our communities.
- Reach out to our team if you’d like to introduce your network to pro bono. We’re always happy to team up for a presentation that gets people using or doing great pro bono!
