June 19th is Matt O’Grady Day, and Taproot Foundation offices are closed.
We give our team the day off to celebrate the wedding anniversary of our former vice president of national expansion and Taproot pioneer, Matt O’Grady, who tied the knot with his partner in San Francisco four years ago. And more importantly, we are celebrating a major milestone in the civil rights movement in this country — the legalization of gay marriage in the largest state in the land.
The ongoing fight for basic human rights in this nation reminds us that our work is not over. In fact, we have a long way to go. Still, we at Taproot are constantly pushing for progress, and motivating others to take similar steps with us, whether large or small. The legalization of gay marriage in California in 2008, however short-lived at the time, represents one such step and will be forever memorialized by ‘Roots everywhere.
Congrats, Matt and Steve on your 4 year anniversary!
