People of Pro Bono: Kristina Griffin

People of Pro Bono:

At the “grand ole age of 12,” Kristina was a summer camp aide assigned to monitor younger kids and their activities. Now she’s an human resources executive who’s donated 500 hours of pro bono service.

Be true to yourself

I am a music lover of all kinds – traditional and contemporary jazz, R&B, pop, gospel, country and western, and symphonic. I played seven different musical instruments in the orchestra and band, starting in elementary through high school. Advice from my father that I live by: be true to yourself, and don’t follow the crowd.

When I do pro bono, I bring with me 25 years of business and human resources strategy experience, along with a genuine desire to help local nonprofits improve their organizational and operational effectiveness. My favorite part of doing pro bono is helping to educate and ease the minds of overworked and dedicated executives who spend countless hours trying to manage it all.

Supporting Community through Human Resources

A pro bono engagement I’m particularly proud of was the team that developed a recruitment strategy for a direct services nonprofit with deep ties to some of the most underserved local residents in the Washington metropolitan area. An unexpected outcome of my pro bono work is that I have an increased respect for the incredible contributions that nonprofits make to our communities every day.

I do pro bono because it is a tangible way for me to give back to my community in a way that benefits others.
