Help us organize our overall financial operations. We have just moved to QuickBooks (entered our financials from Oct 2021 - Dec 2024): we need accounting expertise to review, edit, and update our information for accuracy and ready us for 2025. We need to set up our financial tracking, invoicing, reimbursements, reports (internal and external), and workflow.

We expect this project will take 4-6 weeks to complete. The consultant will work with the Executive Director and the Finance volunteer.

We are a small, grassroots nonprofit news organization and we rely on foundations to support our work: It is imperative that we operate in financial transparency and with precise reporting to ensure that we continue to be viewed as trusted grantee.

To prepare for this project, we have gathered our budgeting information and will share access to our financial management tools.

Public Square is a local nonprofit newsroom founded by a team of Black women with over 70 years of combined experience in the nonprofit, journalism, and community organizing sectors. Public Square positions journalism as a civic tool and creates a pipeline for a new generation of local journalists. Our reporting centers on social and economic justice, racial equity and equality, the climate crisis, and the immigrant experience in covering issues impacting and concerning citizens in and surrounding our headquarters, Newark, from the community's point of view.
