Curriculum Monetization Strategy

Our organization has identified that our most valuable asset, a proprietary, sophisticated digital music curriculum for preschool through sixth graders, has the potential to earn income revenue well beyond its current deployment. Currently, our teachers deliver the curriculum in person to over 60 partner schools in the Bay Area. An internal team of program managers recruits, trains, mentors, and evaluates the educators and manages the school relationships.
We would like to partner with a business strategist who can help us evaluate the feasibility and sustainability of monetizing and licensing this curriculum for remote use beyond the schools we currently serve. As it is standards-based for California schools, we think it might be initially marketable to districts outside our in-person service area in the state where it would be used by public school teachers in-house, with our training and ongoing support.
The business strategist would assess the asset's viability and market readiness based on factors such as market demand, competition, costs, scalability, and potential risks. The curriculum urgently needs to be copyrighted and patented. However, we don't know how to do that or whether it is possible in its current state. We need assistance in determining what it will take to bring the curriculum to this market and whether it is sustainable in the long term.
The strategist would then help us define specific financial goals for our earned income strategy, such as revenue targets or profit margins. Then we will determine the pricing structure for our asset, considering factors such as market rates, value provided, costs, and target audience affordability. The strategist will help us ensure that our patenting, and pricing strategy enables sustainability and covers all relevant costs, including production, marketing, overhead, and personnel.
Our current model, in which we employ teachers to go into the schools, is not sustainable, given the low fees and direct/indirect costs, which are often subsidized for under-resourced schools. We estimate that over the decades, we have spent ~1.5M developing, coding, and maintaining this curriculum. We think it has high value as a complimentary revenue stream - with a higher ROI - to our regional in-person delivery.

The volunteer will support our mission by helping us move forward to create more revenue to not just sustain, but expand our program.
Music for Minors brings nearly 50 years of expertise as a trusted provider of music education to elementary schools. Serving over 20,000 students in nearly 700 classrooms across 60 schools, we deliver culturally diverse and standards-aligned music programs that build confidence, creativity, and essential life skills. Designed to align with California Visual and Performing Arts Standards, our curriculum provides a comprehensive foundation in music that prepares students for further musical study.
We need to be nimble and expand our model in order to thrive, now more than ever. We are often the only music program in our partner schools, of which many are Title I and have a large % of children who qualify for Free and Reduced Meal Programs. We provide a vital pillar of a well-rounded education for so many kids!

We have already identified licensing our unique curriculum as a revenue stream, and the sole focus of this project. We know exactly who the market is for this, with almost 50 years of music education delivery.
The strategist will work closely with our Director of Curriculum, IT Specialist, and Interim CEO. Other staff that may be helpful would be the Director of Technology and our Program Managers.
We will also supply the strategist with our financial information (including the operating budget) the model, pricing, analysis, current proposals/contracting, expense ratios, program fees, and program expenses.
