Pre Design And Feasability For Program Space
We’re hoping a skilled volunteer can assist with the following tasks:
Helping us refine our goals and vision for the space based on how we plan to use it
Conducting a basic assessment of the room’s layout, functionality, and limitations
Recommending design ideas that incorporate flexibility, smart storage, and optimal use of space
Advising on compliance and infrastructure considerations (e.g., accessibility, electrical, lighting, ventilation)
Developing a simple feasibility summary or pre-design brief to guide decision-making and budgeting
Creating visual aids (such as basic layout diagrams or conceptual sketches) to help communicate the vision to internal teams and potential supporters. Your expertise will be instrumental in helping us make the most of this space and ensure it’s intentionally designed to meet both current and future program needs.
The improved space will be used for interactive workshops, hands-on learning experiences, small group coaching, and wellness-related programming. It will allow us to bring more people together in a welcoming environment designed for collaboration, creativity, and empowerment. Whether it's a parent learning new life skills, a teen engaging in personal development activities, or a community member attending a financial literacy session—this redesigned space will support it all.
Your time and talent will help us lay the foundation for that transformation. By helping us assess and design a space that reflects our values and vision, you'll be directly contributing to the success of our programs and the growth of the individuals and families we serve. This is more than just a layout redesign—it's a step toward equity, access, and stronger, more vibrant communities.
We’re excited to work alongside a volunteer who believes in using their skills for good—and we can’t wait to make a lasting impact together.
We’ve also begun compiling helpful materials to share with our volunteer partner, including current floor plans, photos of the space, a list of current uses and limitations, and a draft of the desired functionality. We’ve documented the types of programming we want the space to support moving forward and are ready to talk through different scenarios and constraints.
This project is part of a larger strategic effort to improve how we use our physical space to better serve the community. Once the pre-design and feasibility work is complete, we plan to implement the recommendations in phases, starting with low-cost adjustments and working toward larger capital improvements as funding allows. The outcomes of this collaboration will directly inform how we prioritize our next steps, pursue additional resources, and communicate the vision to donors, partners, and stakeholders.
We value collaboration, follow-through, and clear communication, and we’re excited to co-create something impactful with a dedicated Taproot professional.
