We are seeking a skilled Graphic Design Volunteer to help elevate the visual identity of the Ted Rhodes Foundation. This project will focus on creating professional, visually compelling materials that communicate our mission and enhance our outreach and engagement.

Specific tasks may include:

Designing digital and print collateral such as flyers, event invitations, brochures, social media graphics, and signage for upcoming events
Creating branded templates we can reuse for newsletters, presentations, and promotional campaigns
Refreshing or refining our existing visual brand elements to ensure consistency and professionalism across all platforms
Assisting with event-specific graphics for our 56th Annual Charity Golf Classic and our youth-focused Future Golfers of America programming
This design support will allow us to present a strong, cohesive image to the public, attract more supporters, and build recognition for the important work we’re doing to empower underserved youth through the game of golf.

This project will directly support the Ted Rhodes Foundation’s mission of empowering underserved youth through the game of golf. By helping us create visually impactful materials, the volunteer will play a vital role in increasing awareness of our programs, expanding our reach, and attracting more participants, supporters, and donors.

Your design expertise will help us tell the story of Ted Rhodes—a trailblazing African American golfer—and promote events and initiatives that introduce the game of golf to youth in underrepresented communities. Whether it’s a flyer for a youth golf clinic or graphics for our annual charity tournament, your work will inspire engagement, elevate our visibility, and help open doors of opportunity for young people on and off the course.

Volunteering your time and talents means you're not just designing materials—you’re helping us grow future leaders, build confidence in youth, and honor a legacy of perseverance and excellence.

We’re committed to setting this project up for success by being highly organized, communicative, and responsive throughout the process. We’ve secured internal buy-in and identified key priorities where design support is most needed—such as our upcoming events, youth programming, and marketing outreach.

We’ve also gathered existing branding materials, past flyers, photos, logos, and messaging guidelines to give the volunteer a strong starting point. Our team has a clear vision for what we need and is ready to provide timely feedback to keep the project moving smoothly.

We’ve completed previous Taproot Plus projects and understand how to collaborate effectively with volunteers. Once designs are finalized, we have the infrastructure and team capacity to implement them immediately across our website, social media, print materials, and email campaigns—ensuring the volunteer’s work makes an immediate and visible impact.

Organization Mission

Our mission is to preserve and honor the legacy of golfing pioneer Theodore “Ted” Rhodes. Ted Rhodes’ vision was to make the game of golf open to all races. The Foundation is honoring his vision by advancing future generations of minority golfers by hosting educational events, golf clinics, and golf tournaments for youth and adults. Also, we provide financial support to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) golf teams and golf team members to help further this mission. We also partner with local urban youth golf programs.
