Develop Earned Income Strategy for Refugee Empowerment
We’re seeking a strategic, creative, and financially savvy volunteer to help us develop an earned income strategy for Creshendo, a global nonprofit supporting refugees through education, entrepreneurship, and storytelling initiatives. Our team has created powerful programming that’s transforming lives—but we’re now seeking long-term financial sustainability by identifying and launching ethical earned income streams.
The project will include:
• Identifying potential earned income opportunities aligned with our mission (e.g. curriculum licensing, storytelling project monetization, merchandise, paid workshops).
• Market research and benchmarking similar nonprofit or social enterprise models.
• Helping us prioritize and roadmap 1–2 feasible revenue streams.
• Outlining a lean, mission-aligned pilot strategy.
• Offering light financial modeling (even rough projections would help guide us).
We imagine this project taking 6–8 weeks, with 2–5 hours per week of volunteer time. Your insights will help us move from donor-reliant to financially resilient.
Creshendo’s mission is to help refugees not just survive—but thrive—through education, entrepreneurship, and community-led storytelling. Our work creates long-term pathways out of dependence by investing in refugee-led leadership and innovation.
Developing an earned income strategy is vital to scaling our impact while reducing reliance on grants. It will allow us to reinvest in:
• Refugee-led business incubators
• WhatsApp-based education for newly arrived communities
• The Refugee Storytelling Project, which amplifies unheard voices globally
By helping us build financial sustainability, you’re directly contributing to a world where displaced communities are not sidelined—but centered in solutions.
We’ve already taken key steps to prepare:
• Internal buy-in: Our leadership team is fully on board with developing sustainable income models.
• Alignment: We’ve identified storytelling and curriculum development as two promising pathways.
• Access: You’ll have direct access to our Executive Director and team leads who can share relevant data, goals, and community feedback.
• Materials: We’ve compiled program descriptions, impact reports that you can use to inform your strategy.
We’re clear on the importance of implementing what we co-create. This strategy will directly inform our 2025 funding diversification plan, and we’re committed to piloting a new earned income stream before the year ends.
