We are creating an intranet portal for our nonprofit staff using Google Sites. The goal is to centralize internal resources, improve communication, and enhance the overall employee experience—starting with the new hire onboarding process. We’ve already selected and downloaded a Google Sites template and have a clear vision for the first section of the site. The volunteer will assist with structuring content, building intuitive navigation, and offering design support to ensure the site is clean, accessible, and user-friendly. The initial focus will be creating a welcoming and informative new hire hub, with future potential to expand the site to include wellness resources, process guides, and HR tools.

This project is more than just a website—it’s an investment in our people. As a small but growing nonprofit supporting refugees, immigrants, and newcomers, we rely on a dedicated team of staff to provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive services. By improving their access to onboarding materials, tools, and internal communication, we’re laying the foundation for a healthier, more sustainable workplace. Your work on this project will directly support those who are doing life-changing work in the community every day—and help them feel more connected, informed, and supported in the process.

We’re ready to hit the ground running. I’ve gathered materials such as onboarding checklists, internal policy documents, and staff FAQs to help populate the site, and we’ve also completed a Taproot Plus project in the past so I'm familiar with collaborative, time-bound work with skilled volunteers. Once the intranet is built, we will maintain and update it regularly, ensuring it remains a living, useful tool for our staff.

Organization Mission

PACIFIC REFUGEE SUPPORT GROUP (formerly Portland Refugee Support Group) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit focused on re-empowering refugees, asylum seekers, and newcomers to the community through a trauma-informed care, culturally responsive, and human-centered approach. The story of Pacific Refugee Support Group began in 2016 when a small group of women concerned about the ongoing crisis in Syria began offering support to a refugee family newly arriving in Portland. Today, hundreds of families throughout the Pacific Northwest are offered that same support. The majority of our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers, are still primarily drawn from the communities in which we work, and are trained in a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and individual centered approach to re-empowering each refugee, asylum seeker, and newly arriving member of our community.
