Editing And Copywriting Assistance

We are seeking a skilled English Writing Editor to help us edit our quarterly newsletters, our annual reports and a few additional internal documents produced by our volunteer writing team.

The editor will:
Review written content for grammar, clarity, and style - using our style guide
Ensure that all materials meet high editorial standards
Provide constructive feedback to our team of 10 young African volunteer writers to help improve their writing over time

We anticipate needing about 2–3 hours of support per week, and we’ll provide all the drafts, past examples of edited materials, and clear editorial guidelines to make your role focused and impactful. You won’t be expected to create original content—just refine and enhance what’s already been drafted by our writers, that have already gone through 2 rounds of edits.

YALDA (Youth Alliance for Leadership and Development in Africa) exists to empower African youth through leadership, networking, and development opportunities. High-quality communication is a crucial part of how we share our mission with the world.

By improving the quality of our newsletters and public statements, this editing project will:

Enhance our professional presence with partners like the African Union, United Nations, Afreximbank, ITC, African Development Bank, and UNECA

Equip our young writers with practical writing and communication skills

Help us better engage our continent-wide youth network and global stakeholders

Your editing expertise will directly support young Africans in amplifying their voices across the continent and beyond—contributing to long-term youth-led transformation in Africa.

We’ve already secured internal buy-in for this role from the Publications & Communications Team, and the Head of the team will serve as your main point of contact to ensure alignment, consistency, and timely communication.

Archived samples of previous newsletters and statements
A calendar of upcoming content deadlines
A team of dedicated youth writers who are eager to learn and grow

We understand how to structure and manage these engagements for mutual benefit. Your edits will be implemented directly by our internal team and shared across our international platforms.
