In-Person Photographers Needed for Special Needs Service Dog Families (AZ, CA, FL, MA, MO, NE, NJ, WA)
Each volunteer will be paired with a local family (in one of our 11 target cities) for a one-time photo session lasting about 1–2 hours. We’ll provide a clear shot list with visual examples, coordinate scheduling directly with the family, and offer support with file transfer and post-processing if needed. Volunteers are welcome to deliver lightly edited images or raw files—we’re happy to handle the retouching if that’s preferred.
As a thank-you, we will provide an in-kind donation letter for your services, which can be used for tax purposes as a charitable contribution. We’ll also list you as a contributing photographer on our History page, with a link to your website so others can discover your work.
We're currently looking for photographers in:
Gilbert, AZ | Cape Coral & Destin, FL | Monterey & San Diego, CA | Boston & Westfield, MA | Montclair, NJ | Gretna, NE | Wentzville, MO | Lake Forest Park, WA
Estimated time commitment is 2–5 hours total, including the session and image delivery.
This photography project helps us bring that mission to life—literally. Volunteers will help us:
Showcase our impact: Real families and real dogs tell our story better than words ever could.
Reach more families: The photos will be used on our new website and in outreach campaigns, helping us connect with the next families in need.
Fuel fundraising efforts: Authentic imagery drives emotional engagement, donor support, and grant opportunities.
Celebrate our community: Many of our families have never had professional photos taken—it’s often too costly or stressful. This is a chance to give them a moment of joy and a keepsake they’ll treasure forever.
By joining us, volunteers won’t just be taking photos—they’ll be capturing love, strength, and the power of the human-canine bond.
Planning & Coordination: We’ve already identified families in each location who are excited to participate. Our team will provide clear communication, background info, and support materials to help the session go smoothly.
Provided Shot List: Each photographer will receive a detailed shot list with visual examples to guide the session.
Editing Support: Our Executive Director is a former Art Director of Photography and can handle post-processing in Lightroom if preferred. This gives volunteers the freedom to focus on capturing great moments without needing to worry about editing.
Immediate Impact: These images will be featured in our newly redesigned website and marketing materials, giving volunteers the chance to see their work used right away to support a powerful cause.
Positive Volunteer Experience: We’re an experienced nonprofit with a track record of successful Taproot collaborations and volunteer partnerships. We’re organized, appreciative, and committed to making this a rewarding experience for everyone involved.
