We’re looking for a talented PR professional to help us create a media kit that drives visibility and urgency for the #IAmLeandro campaign.

We’ve launched a statewide initiative urging every school board and county commission in North Carolina to pass a resolution supporting full implementation of the Leandro Comprehensive Remedial Plan—a court-ordered investment in public education. However, we are facing two major challenges:
1. We need immediate PR support to elevate the visibility of this campaign and help promote the resolutions across the state.
2. Policy makers need to know that the people are aware and watching.

This is where you come in. With your help, we want to create a professional, accessible, and action-oriented media kit that includes:

A brief, visually compelling campaign overview

Talking points tailored for public officials and media

Downloadable logos and shareable graphics (which we have)

Sample press releases and media alerts

A timeline of campaign milestones and upcoming events

Testimonials or quotes from advocates, educators, and supporters

Links to our resolutions, petition, and media coverage

This media kit will support our advocacy push through the fall and help establish #IAmLeandro as a household name and statewide movement for education equity.
Your contributions to this project will help revive what some have wrongly dismissed as a “cold case.”

For over 30 years, Leandro v. State of North Carolina has prevailed in the courts of law—again and again. But it has never been fully tried in the court of public opinion. That’s where you come in.

We believe this story—rooted in equity, constitutional rights, and the future of our children—has the power to bring people together across political lines and social divisions. It is a unifying call to action for those who believe that every child, regardless of where they live, deserves access to a sound, basic education.

The media kit you help us build will become a key instrument in this work. It will:
• Equip local advocates with clear, accessible messaging
• Build credibility with journalists, educators, and policymakers
• Make Leandro a household name and a voting issue in 2025

It will also add a level of sophistication and legitimacy to our campaign—ensuring we are seen not just as concerned citizens, but as a strategic, informed movement that cannot be dismissed.

By helping us reach more newsrooms, podcasts, community leaders, and elected officials, you will be helping to elevate the voices of families, educators, and students who have waited far too long for justice. If you believe in the power of media to awaken the public, shift policy, and move hearts—this is your moment to help us make history.
We’re deeply committed to making this partnership a success and have already laid the groundwork to ensure a smooth, impactful experience for the volunteer who joins us.

• Clear Vision & Urgency: The #IAmLeandro campaign is laser-focused on one goal: securing full funding and implementation of the Leandro Comprehensive Remedial Plan. We’ve reached out to every school board, superintendent, and county commissioner in North Carolina and are now preparing for a broader public push.

• Strong Campaign Infrastructure: We’ve already developed key assets, including a website, petition, draft resolutions, and a growing library of media coverage. We also have a clear message framework and multiple success stories from across the state that can be featured in the media kit.

• Ready-to-Implement Strategy: The media kit you help us create will be immediately used in outreach to journalists, education advocates, elected officials, and event hosts. It will support our upcoming statewide speaking tour, ambassador training, and fall press strategy.

• Responsive & Respectful Collaboration: You’ll be working directly with the campaign founder, who has experience in communications, advocacy, and public speaking—and who deeply values volunteers' time and talents. We’re organized, communicative, and passionate about the mission.

With your help, we can amplify this campaign at a critical moment and equip local advocates with the tools they need to speak boldly for North Carolina’s children.

Organization Mission

We advance the cause of equity and excellence in education. According to Leandro v. NC, the state is required to invest $5.54B into the public school system to ensure that every child has access to a sound basic education in our state. So far, the state has refused. Our most pressing challenge is to get "Leandro" out of the courtroom and into the classroom.
