We’re seeking an experienced PR professional to help us write and distribute a press release about the statewide rollout of the #IAmLeandro Resolutions and assist with media outreach and earned media placements.

The #IAmLeandro Campaign has called on all 100 counties and 115 school districts in North Carolina to pass resolutions supporting the full and immediate implementation of the Leandro Comprehensive Remedial Plan—a court-mandated investment in public education.

Now, we need help bringing this story to the public in a compelling, strategic way.
Your contributions will include:

Drafting a professional, polished press release announcing the resolution campaign

Recommending distribution strategies for press, education outlets, and grassroots networks

Identifying podcast, radio, or news story opportunities

Supporting earned media outreach (e.g., op-eds, interviews, press coverage)

Helping us craft a “media-friendly” message that elevates the campaign’s legitimacy and urgency

We have a story that needs to be told. With your help, we can place it in the right hands—and in front of the right audiences.
This project goes straight to the heart of our mission: to educate, equip, and mobilize North Carolinians to secure the education our constitution requires.

The Resolutions campaign is one of our most strategic tools—giving everyday citizens and elected leaders a chance to stand publicly for public schools. But to have the impact we envision, this effort needs visibility.

Your work will:
• Make the campaign visible in earned media outlets across the state
• Help frame the resolutions as a unifying, bipartisan opportunity
• Support broader advocacy goals, including our fall speaking tour and statewide organizing
• Position #IAmLeandro as a credible movement worthy of statewide and national attention

This is a moment to raise our voices—and your expertise can make sure the right people are listening.
This project will be supported by a dedicated and collaborative team. I, as the campaign founder, will work closely with you to provide background information, draft language, and real-time feedback. You’ll also have the support of Kay, our communications coordinator, and a developing social media team that is actively sharing our story online.

At the heart of our movement is a core belief: “I Am Leandro” means we are all plaintiffs in this case. Leandro has prevailed for over three decades in the courts of NC, now it's time to take this case before the people of NC. These resolutions give local communities a way to speak up, demand action, and affirm their constitutional right to a sound, basic education.

We’re building the campaign with care, consistency, and credibility—and with your help, we’ll make sure the story reaches newsrooms, podcasts, and editorial pages across North Carolina and beyond.

We’re ready with the content, strategy, and grassroots momentum. We just need a media expert to help us amplify it.

Organization Mission

We advance the cause of equity and excellence in education. According to Leandro v. NC, the state is required to invest $5.54B into the public school system to ensure that every child has access to a sound basic education in our state. So far, the state has refused. Our most pressing challenge is to get "Leandro" out of the courtroom and into the classroom.
