We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented volunteer bookkeeper to assist us in reviewing and optimizing our current system on Zoho Books.

Our nonprofit has grown rapidly, and with that growth comes the need for more structured and transparent financial practices. We’d love support in evaluating our chart of accounts, categorization of transactions, reconciliation processes, and overall reporting to ensure everything is set up for long-term success.

Ideally, this volunteer would be someone with a passion for animal welfare who may be interested in becoming more deeply involved with our organization. While this is a short-term volunteer opportunity, we are also hoping to find someone who might be excited about joining our board as Treasurer in the future.

This project will involve:
-Reviewing our current setup in Zoho Books
-Providing recommendations or adjustments for improved tracking and reporting
-Helping us create a streamlined monthly reconciliation process
-Advising on best practices for nonprofit financial management
This project is vital to advancing our mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming parrots in need—more than 275 of them currently in our care.

As a nonprofit dedicated to parrot welfare, we rely heavily on community support, donations, and grants to provide food, medical care, enrichment, and safe housing for our birds. A strong, transparent financial system is not just an administrative task—it’s the foundation that allows us to build trust with donors, meet grant requirements, and grow our capacity to help even more parrots.

By helping us improve our bookkeeping and financial structure, you’re directly contributing to the well-being of hundreds of parrots who rely on us for a second chance. Your work will help us secure more funding, better manage resources, and ultimately ensure that no bird goes without the care they need.

This is more than balancing numbers—it’s a chance to be part of something that saves lives and gives these incredible creatures the future they deserve. Your financial insight will directly impact our ability to serve rescued parrots and maintain transparency with our donors and supporters. We appreciate your time and expertise!
We’re committed to setting this project up for success and maximizing the impact of our volunteer’s time and expertise.

Our team recognizes that strong financial systems are critical—especially as more grant funders now require complete and transparent financial documentation. While we currently have a dedicated Treasurer, she is not formally certified, and we understand the value of having a professional review to identify any gaps or areas for improvement.

We’ve already taken several steps to prepare:
-We’ve put significant effort into building out our chart of accounts and maintaining regular profit and loss reports in Zoho Books.
-Our board is fully on board with this project and eager to support any improvements or changes that may be recommended.
-We’re ready to provide access to all necessary financial data and documentation and are committed to acting on the insights gained through this project.

This project isn’t just a short-term audit—it’s a steppingstone to improving our long-term financial practices. We are enthusiastic, responsive, and truly value the expertise that a volunteer can bring to this process. Our hope is that the outcome of this project will not only improve our bookkeeping but also pave the way for a stronger, more sustainable future—potentially with the right volunteer stepping into the Treasurer role as part of our board, someone who has the knowledge and certifications grant leaders are looking for.

Organization Mission

We will continue to educate the public to the plight of homeless/unwanted parrots in hopes of diminishing the need for parrot rescues. We will continue to expand to meet the ever increasing need for placement of homeless parrots as our population ages and the life span of parrots continues increase until such time as the need for our services diminishes.
