Website Refresh (Divi)

Esperanza Community Services is a Chicago-based nonprofit serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. We are seeking an experienced WordPress developer/consultant to update and improve our existing website, which is built on Divi and hosted on GoDaddy.

Our preference is a template-first approach using Divi and native WordPress functionality wherever possible, with custom code used only when necessary and fully documented. The goal is to leave our marketing team with a site they can comfortably maintain for routine updates, while also retaining the option to engage the consultant for ongoing technical support as needed.

Scope of Work
- Update and optimize an existing WordPress site built on Divi
- Improve site structure, performance, and responsiveness (desktop and mobile)
-Work within our current GoDaddy hosting environment (migration not required; recommendations welcome if clearly justified)
-Integrate website forms and data flow with Salesforce (CRM)
-Ensure seamless integration with Mailchimp for email marketing and list management
-Integrate and/or optimize our online donation platform
-Create clear, reusable page templates that non-technical staff can easily update
-Reduce reliance on custom code where possible and document any customizations
-Troubleshoot existing issues and recommend practical improvements
-Implement best practices for security, accessibility, and performance
-Provide documentation and a basic handoff to our marketing team at project completion

Ideal Experience
-Strong hands-on experience with WordPress development, specifically Divi
-Experience building sites that are easy for internal teams to maintain
-Demonstrated experience integrating WordPress with Salesforce
-Familiarity with Mailchimp and online donation/payment platforms
-Comfortable working within managed hosting environments like GoDaddy
-Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders
-Experience working with nonprofits or mission-driven organizations is a plus

Esperanza’s mission is to empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to reach their fullest potential through education, enrichment, and support services. A refreshed, easy-to-manage website will help us better showcase our programs, share the voices of those we serve, and engage families, partners, and supporters more effectively. We’re also preparing to launch a major capital campaign in early 2026, and an updated website will be a critical tool in communicating that vision and inspiring support. By giving our team the tools to keep the site current and dynamic, this project will directly strengthen our ability to connect with the community, recruit staff and volunteers, and raise critical funding. The volunteer’s time and talents will help amplify our impact at a pivotal moment in our growth.

To set this project up for success, our marketing and development team is in place and ready to begin mid-September, following our annual gala. We’ve secured internal buy-in and full access to our current website, which is built on the Divi template. The team will work closely with the volunteer throughout the project and is committed to fully implementing the refreshed design and training for long-term sustainability. The project will also have the full support of our CEO, who has experience as both a Taproot volunteer and recipient. Taproot previously assisted us with a successful Salesforce implementation in 2022, and we’re excited to build on that positive experience.
