We are looking for a volunteer with branding experience and graphic design acumen! The goal of this project: develop a fully refreshed visual identity that reflects the strength, creativity, and empowerment at the heart of our work. This includes:

- An updated, versatile logo

- A high-impact landing page graphic, additional graphics for website headers

- Clear visual direction for consistent brand use going forward
Empowerment Avenue exists to connect and uplift the voices of system-impacted artists and writers through film, writing, and art. A strong, updated visual identity will help us tell our story more clearly, attract more community engagement, and amplify the voices we serve.

The refreshed brand will make a strong first impression with potential partners, funders, and the broader public, helping us expand our reach and broaden our impact. By collaborating on this project, the volunteer will directly support our mission to transform narratives, create opportunities, and build lasting empowerment for the communities we serve.
My team and I have prepared for this project by:

- Securing internal buy-in from leadership and staff for a brand refresh

- Gathering examples of our past logos, color palettes, and marketing materials for reference

- Identifying the core messages and emotions we want our visual identity to communicate

- Outlining the specific brand applications we need (web, social media, print) so the final assets are ready to implement immediately

We are ready to provide timely feedback and clear direction to help the volunteer work efficiently within the limited weekly time commitment.

Organization Mission

Our mission is to normalize the inclusion of incarcerated writers and artists in mainstream venues by bridging the gap between them and harnessing this creative proximity as a path to de-carceration and public safety. To achieve our mission we have a twofold strategy. We support the most talented writers and artists in prisons across the country, providing them the resources they need to get their creative work outside prison walls, be fairly compensated, and contribute their creativity to the movements of abolition, de-carceration, and liberation of incarcerated people. Secondly, we support capacity building for publications, galleries, museums and other organizations committed to this work, to help them meaningfully center currently-incarcerated people in creative spaces while fairly compensating them.
