We are seeking a skilled volunteer to help us lay the foundation for our language access services. The primary goal is to formally assess our needs and create a guiding policy. The volunteer will help us:

- Assess Current Language Needs: Review program data and collaborate with our team to identify the languages most commonly spoken by the populations we serve.

- Identify Service Gaps: Determine the primary points in our service delivery where language assistance is most needed (e.g., intake, client meetings, written materials).

- Develop a Language Access Policy: Draft a clear, actionable policy document that outlines our organization's commitment to language access and the principles we will follow.
This foundational work is a critical first step in ensuring equitable access to our services for all survivors of human trafficking. A formal policy solidifies our commitment to inclusivity and anti-oppression, removing language barriers that can prevent individuals with limited English proficiency from receiving vital support. This project directly supports our mission by making our services more accessible to the diverse communities we serve.
Our leadership team is fully committed to this initiative. We have a dedicated staff member ready to serve as the volunteer's main point of contact, ensuring they have the support they need. We will provide access to all relevant materials we have so far, and are ready to collect additional data recommended by the volunteer. We are prepared for regular meetings to provide feedback and ensure the project moves forward smoothly. We are also prepared to ask other organizations if they are willing to share examples of plans they have created as a starting point. The completed policy will be formally adopted by our organization.
