Technology for Families in Need (TechFIN) would like to partner with a skilled volunteer to conduct focused grant prospect research. The goal of this project is to create a pipeline of 5 to 10 well-aligned funding opportunities that support digital equity, technology access, and educational support for families in need.

The volunteer will research foundations, corporations, and government funders aligned with TechFIN’s mission, review eligibility criteria and funding priorities, and compile a list with notes on deadlines and next steps. We are looking for a clear, prioritized research summary that our team can use to guide upcoming proposal submissions.

Our staff will provide past proposals, program data, and funding priorities to make the process efficient. We expect this work to take place over several weeks, with brief weekly check-ins and regular feedback from our designated point of contact.
This project will directly support TechFIN’s mission to expand technology access and digital resources for families in under-resourced communities. By identifying a curated list of well-aligned funding opportunities, the volunteer will enable our team to secure critical resources to scale programs, distribute devices, and provide educational support.

Their work will have a tangible impact: each funding opportunity identified brings us closer to reaching more families, improving digital literacy, and bridging the technology gap in the communities we serve. By completing this research, the volunteer’s efforts will help strengthen our organizational capacity and ensure that every program we offer has the resources needed to create measurable, lasting community impact.
We have compiled past grant applications, organizational background materials, program data, and funding priorities, so the volunteer can quickly understand our mission and identify well-aligned funders. The outcomes of this project will directly inform our upcoming grant calendar and guide future proposal submissions.

Once the funder pipeline is complete, our team will use it to prioritize outreach and begin preparing tailored proposals. This project is a key step in strengthening TechFIN’s fundraising infrastructure, and we are fully committed to implementing and maintaining the volunteer’s deliverables.

Organization Mission

TechFIN helps narrow the digital divide by addressing a major hurdle to computer hardware ownership: its cost. By collecting used laptops and desktop computers, in bulk, from corporations, we are able to revitalize these machines and distribute them to low-income households at no cost to them. Our solution is sustainable, scalable, and cost-effective.
