Building a 12-Month Fundraising Calendar and Implementation Timeline

Africa Matters Initiative (AMI) is seeking to collaborate with a skilled volunteer to develop a clear, practical 12-month fundraising calendar and accompanying implementation timeline. The objective of this project is to move AMI toward a more structured and intentional fundraising approach by mapping key fundraising moments throughout the year and aligning them with our programs, communications, and impact milestones. The final deliverable will be a realistic, easy-to-use fundraising roadmap that outlines preparation, launch, follow-up, and stewardship phases, enabling our small, distributed team to plan proactively and execute fundraising efforts with greater consistency and clarity.

This project directly supports Africa Matters Initiative’s mission to empower African youth—particularly women and young people facing systemic barriers—to lead change in their communities through leadership development, social entrepreneurship, and advocacy. A structured fundraising calendar will strengthen AMI’s financial sustainability, reduce reliance on reactive fundraising, and enable more intentional planning and resource allocation. By improving our ability to secure and sustain funding, this project will help ensure that more young leaders across Africa can access the training, mentorship, and support they need to drive meaningful, community-led impact.

AMI has taken deliberate steps to ensure this project is well positioned for success and that the volunteer’s time is used effectively. Leadership buy-in has been secured to adopt and implement the fundraising calendar once completed, and internal points of contact have been identified to support collaboration and timely decision-making throughout the project. We will provide the volunteer with relevant background materials, including program overviews, organizational priorities, past fundraising activities, and donor insights, to inform the development of the calendar. Following completion, the fundraising calendar and timeline will be integrated into our internal planning processes and used as a guiding tool for fundraising, communications, and donor engagement across the organization.
