Our organization would like to work with a marketing professional to craft a Case for Support. Having a Case for Support is an essential step in effectively communicating our organization's mission, goals, and needs to potential donors, stakeholders, and supporters. A compelling case for support can inspire others to contribute financially or in other ways to help our nonprofit achieve its objectives.

We envision a marketing professional conducting some discovery to gain a deep understanding of our nonprofit's mission, vision, values, and goals and consider the impact our organization aims to make and the specific programs or initiatives we undertake to achieve that impact. The professional would then help us draft a Case for Support with respect to our target audiences (individual donors, foundations, corporations, or other potential supporters). The Case for Support should include sections addressing: the need, our solution, demonstrated impact, goals and strategies, financial needs, call to action, spotlight on specific programs to support, and recognition & stewardship.

This would include several rounds of review and feedback with the nonprofit leadership and any necessary training for using the Case for Support.
After being heavily reliant on government funding for many years, Oregon SATF is committed to steadfastly growing and sustaining our work through more diverse funding streams. Our partners and community have told us, through strategic planning and other formats, that the work of our organization is essential and profound, but we are challenged with communicating our impact. We have recently created a Communications and Outreach Director position. This staff person works closely with the Executive Director to, in part, broaden our messaging/marketing strategy and a partnership with a Taproot Volunteer would be incredibly helpful in laying a solid foundation to carry this work forward with a well-developed Case for Support. Our 8-person team responds to over 1500 technical assistance requests each year, works to advance statewide policy improvements for survivors of sexual violence, coordinates Oregon's Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner certification and competency standards, and is a leader in statewide violence prevention efforts. Your partnership will be a critical part of our sustainability and marketing plan for all of our programs, improving services and systems for sexual assault survivors, and preventing future violence and abuse.
The marketing professional would have regular access to our executive leadership and relevant team members will be directed to allocate time to meet with the professional during the discovery process. We are also prepared to furnish the necessary financial data and current marketing collateral. We will also make sure that the professional has full access to all materials relating to how we deliver our programs. We can also make program beneficiaries available to interview with the professional if need be.

Organization Mission

Our mission at the Oregon Sexual Assault Task Force is to facilitate and support a collaborative, survivor-centered approach to the prevention of and response to sexual violence. We believe that: Violence and abuse are preventable, and everyone has a role to play in prevention. Survivors of sexual violence and abuse must be heard, supported, believed and meaningfully included in our work. No one deserves to experience violence or abuse. Oppression, in all forms, is the root cause of violence and abuse. This includes, but is not limited to, racism, sexism, homophobia, ableism, xenophobia, classism, and ageism. Note: I always like to clarify that though our legal name is the Attorney General's Sexual Assault Task Force, we operationally most often use Oregon Sexual Assault Task Force. We are a 501c3 nonprofit and are not part of a government agency and our legal name can be misleading. Our organization was originally founded by former Oregon Attorney General Hardy Myers, and the name was given in honor of his role as a founder and a commitment to advancing resources and justice for survivors of sexual assault.
