About the Opportunity

This project would be the first phase in building a marketing plan that positions offshore wind in the minds of Americans as a normal component of a modern, resilient energy system. This phase would focus on developing a marketing strategy, with a follow-up project focusing on developing an integrated marketing plan based on the work of phase 1. Volunteer hours would be dedicated to strategic guidance for the work of building a comprehensive marketing strategy.

The Environmental League of Mass. launched the New England for Offshore Wind coalition in 2020 and leads the coalition's ongoing advocacy work. NE4OSW members advocate for the responsible development of offshore wind to meet New England states' goals for climate, clean energy, and energy affordability and reliability. While ELM staff already supports advocacy communications across the region, this project will provide an increased level of strategic collaboration and direction to ensure offshore wind projects receive federal, state and community support for development, permitting and construction through 2050.

This project follows an initial session with a volunteer discussing the goals and purpose of the work. It builds on more than three years of strategic communications work by Environmental League of Mass. staff for the US offshore wind industry and seeks to take the next logical step in our organization's advocacy. Our offshore wind program is supported by a comprehensive staff that operationalizes a strategic work plan, adjusting our goals regularly to ongoing market dynamics. The marketing plan would be a companion effort to the strategic work plan and building on an already existing offshore wind communications strategy.
