My goal for this Taproot Project is to create a clear, practical fundraising assessment and action plan focused on strengthening support for Madagascar’s first women’s shelter, which is already operating on the ground.

With a skilled volunteer, we aim to assess our current fundraising efforts, identify realistic opportunities with individual donors and foundations in the US, and define priority actions we can implement immediately. This includes refining messaging, outlining a focused donor outreach approach, and supporting initial hands-on fundraising steps for an active, life-saving program.

This project will also help lay the groundwork for future growth, including women’s economic empowerment initiatives, by stabilizing and strengthening our core funding base.
Through working with our organization on this project, the volunteer will directly support our mission to save and improve the lives of women facing extreme risk in Southern Madagascar.

The volunteer’s contribution will help strengthen the financial stability of Madagascar’s first women’s shelter, which is currently operating and providing protection, safety, and support to women and their children. In addition, this project will help lay the groundwork for sustainable fundraising that enables future initiatives, including a women’s employment and economic empowerment center.

The time, skills, and insight contributed through this project will translate into real, on-the-ground impact, supporting safety, dignity, and long-term opportunity for women affected by extreme poverty, violence, and the climate crisis.
My team and I have prepared for this project by gathering clear background materials, including our mission narrative, program descriptions, current fundraising efforts, and real impact stories from the field.

Decision-making authority is in place, and leadership is directly involved, allowing for quick feedback, clear priorities, and immediate implementation of recommendations. We are ready to commit time each week, share data openly, and act on insights generated through this project.

The outcomes of this work will be implemented directly to strengthen our active women’s shelter operations and guide our next steps in building a more structured US-based fundraising approach.

Organization Mission

Innovation Respecting Culture Registered as a non-profit organization in the USA (501c3), IRC Africa initiates and raises funds for innovative projects in southern Madagascar that seek to utilize cutting-edge technology such as AI to bridge the digital divide. Our goal is to promote employment, health, and nutrition in communities across the region while strengthening the safety and independence of women through special programs. Through these, we work to prevent gender-based violence and provide multi-dimensional support to women who have experienced abuse, sexual exploitation, violence, and forced marriages for girls. Implementing these initiatives is essential, but most importantly, everything we do is achieved while respecting local traditions and ensuring sustainability.
