We are searching for a volunteer to lead the creation of a completed draft of Tough Genes' first Form 990-EZ. This project will include a review of our existing statement with identified corrections, a checklist of missing supporting items, and recommended next steps to finalize and file. Specific documents and timelines will be provided during volunteer interviews.

We have already begun working on this and would like to spend time with a professional to answer questions and ensure accurate information is recorded.

Accurate, timely tax filing strengthens compliance and donor confidence, helping Tough Genes focus on raising awareness and funds for IRF2BPL research. Volunteers will directly support the organization's ability to advance research and assistance for people facing progressive loss of function from IRF2BPL mutations.

The organization will make financial records and a primary staff contact available, be responsive for regular check-ins, and commit to implementing volunteer recommendations to complete the filing.

Our mission is to raise awareness and funds for rare genetic disorder research on the IRF2BPL gene. With no current available treatments, those with an IRF2BPL mutation are faced with the reality of being imprisoned in their own body with cognitive awareness. Over time, patients experience regressions that cause them to lose the ability to walk, talk, eat, and care for themselves.
