We would like a volunteer to produce a researched travel feature about Harlem suitable for publication or the organization's website. The volunteer will produce a draft and collaborate on revisions with staff. Specific angle, length, deadlines, and source access will be defined with volunteers during interviews.
This feature will raise visibility of Harlem's African American cultural legacy, spotlight local artists and institutions, and invite new audiences to engage with Harlem Collective Opera's programs. Volunteers' writing will help document cultural stories, expand representation, and support community engagement and education.
Details will be provided. We will define the story angle, target audience, and source access with the volunteer during interviews and collaborate on edits to ensure the piece is ready for publication.

Organization Mission

Harlem Collective Opera is a Harlem-based, African American–led arts and media organization dedicated to preserving, producing, and advancing African American culture through opera, music, storytelling, and immersive community programming. We create accessible pathways for artists, students, and audiences to engage with classical and contemporary art forms, while using media, education, and live performance to document cultural legacy, expand representation, and cultivate the next generation of creative and civic leaders.
