Work with our marketing staff to set up and test Mailchimp segmentation using surveys, clickable links, and other methods. The volunteer will help define segmentation criteria, implement segments or automations, and recommend practical next steps. We want to learn how to do this ourselves ultimately!
Improved email segmentation will help Uptown Stories send more relevant messages to families, prospective students, donors, and volunteers, increasing engagement and outreach for our pay-what-you-can writing workshops and better supporting young writers in upper Manhattan.
The marketing director and coordinator will share examples of current campaigns and subscriber lists, and be available for regular check-ins so volunteers can collaborate, test changes, and hand off clear recommendations. We prefer to use Slack for internal communication.

Organization Mission

At Uptown Stories, we believe that writing is an essential tool for self-expression, critical thinking, and academic success. Based in upper Manhattan, we offer small-group writing workshops for children ages eight to fifteen, led by master teachers and professional authors. To ensure our workshops are accessible to all children, tuition is pay-what-you-can. Whether your child is a struggling writer or an aspiring novelist, Uptown Stories creates an exciting, challenging, and supportive community in which your young author thrives.
