We are seeking to collaborate with a volunteer to produce a 3-month Instagram-focused content calendar and draft post copy/captions, a posting schedule, hashtag and post-type suggestions, and reusable caption templates. Specific assets, exact dates, and approval workflow will be defined with volunteers during kickoff.
Stronger social media will help Occupy Vacancy amplify North St. Louis’s architectural and cultural stories, increase public engagement with site-based public art, broaden access to the initiative’s narratives, and raise visibility ahead of the triennial—mobilizing interest and support.
Our organization supports improving social media and is preparing to promote our organization's 5th anniversary and participation in an upcoming art triennial; team members will review drafts and implement the calendar. Details and any required assets will be provided and discussed during volunteer interviews to set clear next steps.

Organization Mission

Occupy Vacancy uses city-owned lots to reimagine the landscape of North St. Louis by highlighting the architectural and historical context that disappears when city homes are torn down. We acknowledge the collective loss of St. Louis neighborhoods and want to honor their heritage. This initiative is a call to action to revive the city’s occupancy and imagine a new legacy for the Northside. Purpose: Occupy Vacancy is an art initiative established through a shared history and passion for telling the story of St. Louis. Occupy Vacancy regenerates and reimagines the physical landscape of St. Louis City through artistic intervention. Vision: The objective of Occupy Vacancy is to create public art sites that celebrate and honor the cultural and architectural heritage of North St. Louis. Through the presentation of recontextualized architectural forms on vacant lots, Occupy Vacancy contributes to the contemporary discourse of public art, architecture, and neighborhood development. Values: Occupy Vacancy uses sculpture to reflect upon race, settlement, and historic preservation on St. Louis’s Northside. Occupy Vacancy advances hidden narratives through the telling of untold stories through the mediums of architecture and public art. Occupy Vacancy continues in the St. Louis tradition of accessibility to art and culture. The sites are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
