My goal for this Taproot Project is to create a practical social media strategy and content calendar for Voices For Seniors. As a growing statewide advocacy organization, we need a consistent, professional, and compelling social media presence that builds our audience, engages our community, and amplifies our advocacy work. We are looking for help identifying the right platforms for our audiences, developing a realistic posting strategy that a small all-volunteer organization can maintain, and creating a content calendar with sample posts and content categories. The deliverable should be something we can pick up and execute immediately without needing ongoing outside support.
Through working with our organization on this project, the volunteer will support our mission by helping Voices For Seniors build the public presence and grassroots support we need to create real change. Social media is how we grow our membership, reach caregivers and families who need our voice, attract potential board members and donors, and hold legislators accountable in a very public way. A strong, consistent social media presence will make us louder, more visible, and harder to ignore — which is exactly what fighting for New York's seniors requires.
We have a 5-year strategic plan, a core messaging project in development, and a brand identity project underway through separate Taproot projects — so the volunteer will have clear guidance on our voice, our audiences, and our goals. We have an important and compelling story to tell — rooted in the fight for accountability for the 15,000+ seniors who died in New York nursing homes during the pandemic — and we are ready to show up consistently once we have the right strategy in place.

Organization Mission

Voices for Seniors exists to protect and elevate vulnerable elderly populations by driving meaningful reform in long-term care through grassroots action, public education, and advocacy for stronger protective legislation. We are equally committed to seeking justice and accountability for families affected by neglect, systemic failures, and preventable loss. Through online platforms and social media, we work to reshape how society values seniors while exposing gaps in nursing home oversight and current protective laws.
