Exploration of a New Revenue Stream

We are looking for a skilled volunteer to help us explore and model a potential new revenue stream that aligns with our mission. This could include developing a fee-for-service model, launching a social enterprise, client-run enterprise, or monetizing an existing program or service. The goal is to assess financial viability of this option and forecast its potential revenue over the next 1-3 years.

At the end of this engagement, we would like to develop a planning brief that details:

-Our ideal consumer base
-Initial investment and/or start-up costs
-Running costs for administering the new venture
-Pricing options
-Estimate of our break-even point (how much revenue we need to earn to cover start-up costs and costs of administration

The first stage of this project will involve brainstorming and presenting options based on similar models used by peer organizations. Following the presentation of these ideas, you'll come up with a more in-depth evaluation and potential plan for implementation.

This role will help our nonprofit unlock the potential of resources we have already developed, allowing us to expand our reach and generate sustainable funding to support our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

Review and assess the organization’s existing intellectual property, including trainings, curriculum, programs, and operational systems
Identify which materials or programs have potential for licensing, partnerships, or resale to other organizations
Develop a strategic plan for how these assets could generate revenue for the nonprofit
Recommend licensing models (e.g., program licensing, training packages, certification programs, etc.)
Identify and research potential organizations that could benefit from licensing these resources
Help craft messaging and outreach strategies to introduce these offerings to potential partners
Assist with developing pitch materials or licensing proposals
Support initial outreach and conversations with potential partner organizations as needed
Help guide the nonprofit through the early stages of executing the licensing strategy
