Financial Audit: Empowering LA Youth Through Music Education Project

The Electric Moon Foundation is a Los Angeles-based 501(c)(3) dedicated to empowering diverse youth in marginalized communities through innovative music education and holistic development. We bridge the accessibility gap in the arts by providing progressive instruction, professional-grade instruments, and mentorship to our city's most vulnerable populations. By integrating trauma-informed therapies into our creative curriculum, we use music to cultivate self-esteem, teamwork, and resilience.

With an annual operating budget of approximately $50,000, we are looking to take our next organizational step. To position ourselves for foundational grants that require an audited financial statement, we seek a volunteer CPA to conduct a pro-bono independent audit of our most recent fiscal year. Because our budget is modest, our transaction volume is low, we think it shouldn't be a terribly burdensome process.

EMF has been providing free music lessons to youth experiencing homelessness since 2022. These kids graduate from the program with a increased sense of self-esteem, and a feeling of accomplishment. Our work has been featured in the Los Angeles Daily News and The Kelly Clarkson Show. We've also received special recognition from the band Pearl Jam.
