We are seeking a volunteer web designer with experience in nonprofit websites to help improve the user experience, information architecture, and visual design of our existing WordPress website (ImpactKits.org).

Our website is already live, but we want to make it more intuitive, engaging, and effective at converting visitors into donors, volunteers, collection site hosts, and community partners. The volunteer will review our current website, identify opportunities for improvement, and create recommendations that include updated page layouts, wireframes, navigation structure, and visual design concepts that align with our brand.

The project will take place over approximately 6-8 weeks through virtual meetings. During the first meeting, we'll share our mission, audiences, current website, branding, and organizational goals. The volunteer will then conduct a website audit and develop recommendations for improving the site's structure and user experience. Throughout the engagement, we'll provide timely feedback during scheduled check-ins until the final design recommendations and wireframes are complete.

The final deliverables should include:

* A website audit with prioritized recommendations
* Updated sitemap and navigation structure
* Wireframes or mockups for key pages
* User experience and accessibility recommendations
* Design guidance that our team can implement in WordPress
A stronger website will help more people discover our mission and take action. By improving the user experience and making it easier for visitors to donate, volunteer, host donation collection bins, and connect with community partners, this project will directly increase our capacity to serve individuals and families across Orange County.

Every improvement to our website helps us reach more supporters, strengthen community partnerships, collect more essential supplies, and expand the number of care kits we distribute. The volunteer's expertise will create lasting value by helping us build a more accessible, trustworthy, and mission-driven online presence that supports our long-term growth.
Our team has already completed much of the foundational work needed for this project. We have an established brand identity, logo, color palette, messaging, photography, and website content, along with a live WordPress website that the volunteer can review.

We'll provide clear project goals, examples of nonprofit websites we admire, access to our existing website, and prompt feedback throughout the engagement. A dedicated project lead will coordinate meetings, answer questions, and ensure decisions are made quickly so the volunteer can focus on design rather than gathering information.

Once the project is complete, our team will implement the recommended improvements and use the deliverables as a roadmap for future website enhancements.

Organization Mission

ImpactKits exists to make compassion actionable by connecting people who want to help with neighbors who need support. We believe that no one should have to face hardship alone, and that communities become stronger when people come together with purpose, empathy, and a shared sense of responsibility. Our mission is to mobilize students, businesses, schools, faith communities, and local organizations to collect essential supplies, assemble care kits, and build sustainable partnerships that address immediate needs with dignity. Every donation, volunteer hour, and community partnership represents an opportunity to transform kindness into meaningful action and ensure that support reaches individuals and families when they need it most. Beyond providing care kits, we are building a culture of service where young people are empowered to lead, communities are equipped to give back, and collaboration becomes the foundation for lasting impact. By creating simple, accessible ways for people to serve, we strengthen local support networks, inspire civic engagement, and demonstrate that lasting change begins when ordinary people choose to care for one another. Our vision is a community where compassion is not an occasional act but a shared commitment, where every person has the opportunity to contribute, every family can access support with dignity, and every act of service helps create a more connected, resilient, and hopeful future.
