Our goal for this Taproot Project is to create a practical fundraising strategy that will help ImpactKits build sustainable sources of financial support.

We are a newly launched, student-led nonprofit organization with an established mission, website, community partnerships, and a way to securely accept tax-deductible donations through our fiscal sponsor, The Hack Foundation (HCB). While we have the infrastructure in place to receive donations, we have little experience with fundraising and are looking for guidance on where to begin.

We are seeking a volunteer with fundraising or nonprofit development experience to help us create a realistic fundraising roadmap. We'd like assistance identifying the most effective fundraising opportunities for an organization at our stage, including individual giving, recurring donors, corporate sponsorships, workplace giving, donor stewardship, peer-to-peer fundraising, and community campaigns. We would also appreciate recommendations for annual fundraising goals, donor communication strategies, and simple systems we can use to build lasting relationships with supporters.

The final deliverable will be a fundraising strategy that our leadership team can begin implementing immediately and continue using as our organization grows.
Through working with our organization on this project, the volunteer will help build the financial foundation necessary for ImpactKits to expand its impact throughout Orange County.

A stronger fundraising strategy will enable us to purchase more essential supplies, expand our network of donation collection sites, organize additional volunteer service events, and distribute more care kits to individuals and families experiencing hardship. Beyond immediate funding, this project will help us develop the knowledge and systems needed to sustain our mission for years to come.

By helping us understand how successful nonprofits attract, engage, and retain donors, the volunteer will empower a student-led organization to grow responsibly and serve more people with dignity, compassion, and consistency.
My team and I have prepared for this project by establishing our organizational foundation. We have developed our mission and programs, launched our website, secured fiscal sponsorship through The Hack Foundation (HCB), created donation tools, built community partnerships, and developed plans for our care kit initiatives.

We are committed to meeting regularly with our volunteer, providing any materials they need, and implementing the recommendations they provide. Our leadership team is eager to learn and build long-term fundraising capacity rather than relying solely on one-time donations.

Organization Mission

ImpactKits exists to make compassion actionable by connecting people who want to help with neighbors who need support. We believe that no one should have to face hardship alone, and that communities become stronger when people come together with purpose, empathy, and a shared sense of responsibility. Our mission is to mobilize students, businesses, schools, faith communities, and local organizations to collect essential supplies, assemble care kits, and build sustainable partnerships that address immediate needs with dignity. Every donation, volunteer hour, and community partnership represents an opportunity to transform kindness into meaningful action and ensure that support reaches individuals and families when they need it most. Beyond providing care kits, we are building a culture of service where young people are empowered to lead, communities are equipped to give back, and collaboration becomes the foundation for lasting impact. By creating simple, accessible ways for people to serve, we strengthen local support networks, inspire civic engagement, and demonstrate that lasting change begins when ordinary people choose to care for one another. Our vision is a community where compassion is not an occasional act but a shared commitment, where every person has the opportunity to contribute, every family can access support with dignity, and every act of service helps create a more connected, resilient, and hopeful future.
