Maryland Background Check Process Guide for Youth Chorus

These instructions will help the chorus maintain a safe environment for children, increase caregiver and community trust, and streamline hiring and contractor onboarding so staff can focus on bringing children together for joyful exploration and celebration of singing.

The organization will designate a staff contact, share any existing hiring or screening policies and sample forms, and make time for regular check-ins so the volunteer can gather information, draft the instructions, and revise them with staff feedback.
