WCAG 2.1 AA Accessibility Audit for Open-Source Portal

A manual accessibility audit against WCAG 2.1 Level AA, covering keyboard-only navigation, screen reader testing with NVDA or VoiceOver, focus management, form error handling, interactive components, and the map interface. Deliverable: a findings report mapping issues to WCAG criteria with severity and recommended fixes.

Priority is the resident-facing reporting portal, which is the public interface where residents submit a service request with a photo and a map pin. The staff dashboard and admin console are secondary, since municipal employees with disabilities also need to be able to do their jobs in them. If a full audit is more than your availability allows, a focused review of the resident portal alone would be genuinely valuable.

This audit will help ensure residents with disabilities can reliably submit service requests and help municipalities meet ADA and Section 508 obligations. Because Pinpoint 311 is free and open-source, fixes will improve accessibility for every town that deploys the platform, directly expanding equitable access to municipal services. The residents most likely to depend on a reporting app rather than visiting a municipal building are often the ones least well served by inaccessible interfaces — and municipalities running this are subject to ADA and Section 508 obligations they may not have the capacity to evaluate themselves.

The platform is already built, deployed, and publicly demonstrable at demo.pinpoint311.org, so there is nothing to wait on before testing can begin. The codebase is open source, so you would have full access rather than working blind. We already run automated accessibility checks in our CI pipeline, so the automated layer is covered and your time would go toward what tooling cannot catch.

I am the developer and sole point of contact, which means no approval chains — findings can be discussed and implemented directly. We have a track record of acting on independent review: we are enrolled in cybersecurity programs and we remediate findings promptly. Accessibility findings would be handled the same way, and because the platform is open source, the fixes are publicly visible.
