Brand & Visual Identity — Teen App Suite

Community Bridge Project needs a volunteer brand designer to help finalize the visual identity for our teen decision-making app suite. We have a working name ("The Compass," pending trademark review on an alternate name) and a first-pass visual mock-up, but current design feedback indicates it reads too young for our target audience of teens ages 14–19 — it currently uses clip-art style icons, a card-based quiz layout, and saturated primary colors that don't match how older teens want to be spoken to visually. We're looking for a designer to help us land on a more mature, age-appropriate direction: logo/wordmark refinement, a cohesive color palette, typography, and app store asset guidelines. We have two draft directions in progress and would value a designer's eye on which to pursue or how to evolve them.
A teen's first impression of this app happens before they read a single word of content — through color, type, and visual tone. If the design reads as childish or clinical, teens who most need this resource may never open it. Getting the visual identity right is what makes the mission, reaching teens with information they'll actually trust and use, achievable in practice, not just in principle.
We'll share our existing mock-up, both draft visual directions currently in comparison, our target audience definition, and CBP's own organizational brand guidelines so the app's identity feels connected to but distinct from our parent brand. Our Director of Operations is the single point of contact and can provide fast turnaround on feedback and approvals.
