About the Opportunity

Spark Hope Scar Revision Project is seeking support from a marketing professional to help us expand awareness and grow our network. As we grow, our goal is to support 50 participants at a time and build a network of 500 therapists who can help connect individuals to Spark Hope.

Spark Hope connects individuals living with self-injury or interpersonal violence scars to free scar revision and a fresh start. By linking mental health treatment with scar revision treatment, Spark Hope aims to restore hope and replace despair and stigma with self-efficacy, renewed confidence, and a belief that healing is possible.

Currently serving Massachusetts and New Hampshire, we are looking to strengthen our outreach to therapists, mental health professionals, medical scar revision providers, and other community partners who can join our network. Our model empowers mental health therapists and their clients to explore scar revision as part of the healing journey while connecting participants with trusted medical scar revision providers.

Many of the individuals who can benefit from Spark Hope first seek support from therapists, counselors, social workers, physicians, and other community professionals. However, as a small nonprofit, we do not yet have a comprehensive marketing strategy for reaching and engaging these audiences at the scale needed to meet our growth goals.

We have established a website, branding guidelines, active social media presence across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Substack, and ongoing outreach efforts. However, we are seeking an outside marketing perspective to assess these efforts and identify opportunities to improve our visibility, engagement, and outreach to potential referral partners.

This project is expected to take approximately 15–20 hours, with volunteers contributing 2–5 hours per week over one month.

By the end of this project, we hope to have a strategic marketing plan tailored to Spark Hope Scar Revision Project that provides a clear roadmap for expanding awareness and growing our network of therapists and providers.

The volunteer will have access to our branding guidelines, organizational background, current website, social media platforms (including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn), and recurring content and communications. The volunteer will review these resources and, based on their assessment, will provide recommendations for improving our visibility, engagement, and overall marketing strategy, with particular attention to how we can effectively reach and engage therapists and other referral partners.

The final deliverable should include:
- A written marketing strategy tailored to Spark Hope
- Recommendations for growing our network of therapists, providers, and referral partners to support our goal of building a network of 500 therapists
- Suggestions for social media, website, and content improvements
- Low-cost or free marketing and advertising opportunities appropriate for a nonprofit budget
- Short-term and long-term marketing priorities that support our growth and capacity goals
- Recommended first steps and highest-impact initiatives

Success would mean that Spark Hope has a practical, actionable strategy that our team can implement to strengthen awareness, prioritize marketing efforts, and sustainably grow our referral network. The final recommendations will help us identify where to focus our limited resources and create a stronger foundation for reaching more individuals who could benefit from our services.
