About the Opportunity

The Problem:
We don’t have professionally designed t-shirts or branded merchandise. This limits our ability to create visible community. When volunteers wear our shirts at events, they become walking ambassadors for pregnancy loss awareness. At awareness events and fundraisers, branded merchandise helps people remember us and support our mission. Families finding us want tangible ways to show they’re part of our community. We’ve tried designing shirts internally, but lack professional graphic design expertise to create something that represents our mission compellingly and looks professional enough to wear proudly.

Specific Gaps:
• No professional t-shirt designs reflecting our brand
• No merchandise for volunteers, donors, or families
• Missing fundraising tool (selling shirts at events)
• Can’t build visible community without branded apparel
• Internal designs don’t look professional
• No cohesive visual brand across merchandise
• Missing opportunity to normalize pregnancy loss conversation through visible wear

Why It Matters:
T-shirts are powerful awareness tools. When someone wears a shirt with “Chasing the Rainbows” and our message, they’re starting conversations about pregnancy loss. Families see the shirt and realize they’re not alone. Volunteers feel part of something bigger. At Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month events in October, branded merchandise creates visual solidarity. Fundraising events need merchandise to sell. But more importantly, every shirt worn is a statement that pregnancy loss matters and free support is available.

What We Need:
Professional graphic designer to create t-shirt designs that represent our nonprofit authentically, communicate our mission clearly, and are compelling enough that people want to wear them and share our message.

By the end of this 12-week project, we need professionally designed t-shirt and sweatshirt designs ready for production.

Deliverable 1: T-Shirt Designs (5-6 designs)
Five to six original t-shirt designs in vector format (print-ready). Designs should reflect our mission, incorporate our logo/branding, and appeal to families, volunteers, and supporters. Include variations for different shirt colors. Multiple design concepts with different messaging angles (awareness, support, community, fundraising). All files in high-resolution vector format ready for printing.

Deliverable 2: Sweatshirt/Hoodie Designs (3-4 designs)
Three to Four sweatshirt or hoodie designs complementing t-shirt collection. Professional placement and sizing for sweatshirt format. Vector files ready for production.

Deliverable 3: Mock-ups and Specifications
Professional mock-ups showing designs on actual t-shirts and sweatshirts in multiple colors. Technical specifications for printing (size, placement, color codes, file formats). Guidelines for print vendors.

Deliverable 4: Brand Guidelines for Merchandise
Logo placement specifications, color palette for merchandise, typography standards, usage guidelines. Documentation for consistent brand application across all merchandise.

SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
Professional designs people want to wear. Print-ready files. Multiple design options. Compelling messaging. Authentic brand representation.

That's 21,000 stillbirths and 24,000 infant losses annually in the United States alone, affecting over 1 million families each year. Yet pregnancy loss and infant loss remain some of the most under-discussed, under-resourced, under-supported health crises in America. The Isolation: Most grieving families are completely alone. They don't know where to turn. They can't afford therapy. They don't know other families who've experienced what they have. The grief is compounded by isolation, stigma, and the crushing weight of believing they're the only ones. The Cost: For families already devastated by loss, adding the financial burden of therapy, counseling, funeral costs, and support services is impossible. Mental health care is expensive. Funerals are expensive. Community is expensive. And so families grieve silently, without help, and often without hope. The Gap: There is no other nonprofit providing the breadth and depth of free, comprehensive support that pregnancy and infant loss families need. We fill that gap completely—removing every barrier to healing. No family should grieve alone. No family should pay to heal. And no million families experiencing pregnancy loss should have to search desperately for help that should be visible, accessible, and free. With your pro bono PR support, we can make sure every family that experiences pregnancy loss or infant loss knows Chasing the Rainbows exists and knows they're not alone. Together, we transform grief into healing. Together, we give hope back to families who've lost everything.
