About the Opportunity

I am looking for an accountant to help with Quickbooks Online setup (and training, if possible) for my nonprofit, Fireform. I've applied for a few pro-bono Give Back programs, but we are a very new nonprofit, and do not have some of the measurable results of impact, just yet. I am currently working almost entirely alone, so it is a mix of limited capacity, financial barriers, and lack of knowledge and expertise in nonprofit accounting, specifically.

If I could walk away with a fully prepared/properly set-up Quickbooks, integrated into my website, financial platforms, and bank account, along with the knowledge to reconcile transactions/begin a proper monthly accounting process, that would be incredible. I want to ensure my chart of accounts includes the proper items, and that I learn how to best account for restricted/unrestricted funds, grants, programming, administrative expenses, donor income, reimbursements, and eventually year-end Form 990 reporting. I also have questions about general best accounting/finance practices when working with and paying contractors (regarding invoicing, etc).

Organization Mission

Fireform is an open space for empowerment, connection, and self-expression. As a Brooklyn-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we exist at the crossroads of empowerment, collaborative education, creative expression, and community care for women and feminine humans of all backgrounds. Founded out of a want for more intentional feminine spaces, Fireform helps connect us to our collective strength, create new narratives around femininity, push back against disempowerment and oppression, and speak up boldly for our wants and needs. Through workshops, community gatherings, activations, and artistic events, we explore liberation, free expression, curiosity, and play. We advocate for pleasure and embodied living as inherent human rights, and create communal spaces to navigate selfhood, sexuality, and interconnection with ourselves and the rest of the world.
