About the Opportunity

Communities In Schools (CIS) has developed a draft Corporate Partnerships Framework intended to guide how the organization engages corporate partners beyond traditional grantmaking. As we prepare for our 50th Anniversary in 2027, we recognize a significant opportunity to strengthen and diversify corporate engagement across our national network.

While CIS has successfully secured corporate philanthropic support, we believe there is untapped potential to expand corporate engagement through employee giving, matching gifts, volunteerism, cause marketing, sponsorships, executive engagement, and strategic partnerships. To support this work, our team has already created a draft framework that outlines our approach, priorities, and partnership opportunities.

Before launching and resourcing this effort, we are seeking an experienced corporate partnerships professional to conduct an independent review of the framework and provide recommendations. We want to ensure the framework reflects current best practices, includes all critical components of a comprehensive corporate partnerships program, aligns with our organizational structure, and presents a realistic and scalable approach for implementation.

This project is not intended to create a new strategy. Rather, we are seeking an objective assessment and validation of our existing framework, along with recommendations to strengthen it before presenting it to senior leadership and the Board of Directors for endorsement.

Success would result in a refined, board-ready framework that provides confidence that CIS is investing in the right corporate engagement opportunities and is positioned to responsibly pursue implementation.

The consultant will conduct an independent review and assessment of Communities In Schools' Corporate Partnerships Framework to evaluate its overall effectiveness, feasibility, alignment with organizational capacity, and adherence to corporate engagement and nonprofit partnership best practices.

Through this process, the consultant will identify strengths, gaps, opportunities, and potential risks, providing strategic recommendations to strengthen the framework and enhance its readiness for implementation. The review will assess whether the framework effectively supports a comprehensive corporate engagement strategy, including philanthropy, employee giving, matching gifts, volunteerism, skills-based engagement, cause marketing, sponsorships, brand activations, executive engagement, and strategic national partnerships.

In addition, the consultant will evaluate and refine CIS's corporate partner value proposition to ensure it clearly articulates mutual benefit, meaningful engagement opportunities, and measurable impact for corporate partners.

At the conclusion of the project, the consultant will deliver a readiness assessment outlining key strengths, priority recommendations, implementation considerations, and any areas requiring additional investment, planning, or refinement prior to launch. Findings and recommendations will be summarized in a concise executive presentation designed for leadership and Board review.
