About the Opportunity

ADUD seeks a SharePoint Technical SME to support Microsoft 365 architecture, implementation, and integration across AICE—our Internal Information & Communication Exchange.

The volunteer will work with leadership and functional owners across all AICE/SharePoint workstream Lead to gather requirements and build technical solutions for departmental sites, document repositories, operational registers, the Workstream Control Center, account provisioning, onboarding, and secure collaboration.

This hands-on role requires experience with:

• SharePoint Online: site architecture, hubs, lists, libraries, content types, metadata, navigation, versioning, and permissions.
• Power Automate: approvals, notifications, record numbering, onboarding workflows, duplicate prevention, error handling, and logging.
• Microsoft Graph, SharePoint APIs, and PowerShell: integration, administration, provisioning, and repeatable configuration.
• Microsoft Entra ID: group-based access, least privilege, MFA, Conditional Access, external collaboration, and account lifecycle controls.
• Technical delivery: requirements gathering, solution design, troubleshooting, testing, deployment, rollback, and administrator documentation.

Experience with Power Apps, SPFx, TypeScript/React, Power BI, Purview, Intune, Windows 365, or Azure Virtual Desktop is desirable. Nonprofit experience is highly desired.

The SME will support the entire workstream, implementing agreed priorities within ADUD’s licensing, dependencies, and volunteer capacity. ADUD will provide project materials, access to functional owners, and authorized technical access.

Your work will strengthen coordination, reduce administrative effort, and protect institutional information.

Commitment: Remote; approximately 5–8 hours per week for 8 weeks. ADUD is approved to offer Student Service Learning (SSL) hours.

The Project Deliverables

Technical baseline assessment: Review existing configurations, dependencies, technical issues, licensing constraints, and implementation gaps across the AICE/SharePoint environment.

Requirements gathering and technical specification: Work with ADUD leadership and branch owners to identify and validate functional, integration, data, access, security, and operational requirements. Document priorities, dependencies, and acceptance criteria for the agreed implementation scope.

AICE technical architecture: Define site relationships, data structures, identity and access models, integration points, and the automation approach to support consistent implementation across all branches.

Implemented priority components: Configure, build, and deploy agreed SharePoint sites, lists, libraries, workflows, integrations, and security controls within ADUD’s approved environment.

Technical testing and remediation: Validate functionality, permissions, duplicate prevention, error handling, and account/access lifecycle scenarios. Resolve identified defects and document test results.

Configuration and deployment documentation: Provide scripts, workflow exports where applicable, technical diagrams, configuration and change records, deployment procedures, and rollback instructions.

Administrator handover: Deliver operational runbooks, troubleshooting guidance, known limitations, and a practical walkthrough for ADUD’s designated administrator.

Organization Mission

ADUD is a non-partisan, non-profit organization created to ultimately empower African diaspora communities worldwide, by engaging and partnering with individuals, businesses, agencies, and institutions in a collaborative effort to heavily contribute to the educational and social development of Africa and to build a stronger community. The vision of ADUD is to improve the partnership opportunities for our African diaspora communities, so that together we can stand strong to address the social and educational issues and lacks in Africa. ADUD staff and trained volunteers will educate, connect people to resources and encourage community collaboration addressing subtopics including but not limited to health, youth, families, welfare and community development. Our programs are developed in direct response to community need. In a global view, ADUD understands that for all of the reasons, whether it be for the pursuit of increased economic and civil stability, for increased health well-being, or if it is to embark on a new job or join a loved one, the African Diaspora target community in this 21st Century, consists of people of African origin living outside their country of origin, irrespective of their current citizenship and nationality, who are willing to contribute to the development of Africa, starting with their local community. Through our principal pillars Help, Educate, Lead, and Promote Philanthropy (H.E.L.P.), we assist our local diaspora communities by connecting people to resources here and abroad by offering specialized educational programs and projects, by offering various workshops on awareness of community needs and integration, healthy living, etc. and other educational trainings, coordinating social and professional networking events, and providing organized opportunities to give back to our local communities and our countries.
