What if your nonprofit experience could help musicians raise money for hundreds of different causes?
Play It Forward is an online platform built around a simple idea: musicians use their original music to support causes they care about. Artists upload a song, choose a charity and share their music with fans to raise money for that cause. We provide the platform and help promote their music and campaigns.
We’ve built the platform, proven the concept and supported successful artist-led campaigns. Now we need an experienced nonprofit professional to help us decide where to focus our efforts as we grow toward national, and eventually global, recognition.
Play It Forward brings together music, technology and philanthropy. Musicians get their music heard while supporting causes. Nonprofits gain exposure and funding. Fans discover new music while giving back. We’re run entirely by volunteers, charge no platform fee, and send all donations to the designated charity, minus credit card processing fees.
Lahaina Shines raised approximately $42,000 with support from artists including Grace Slick, and Frank Ingari’s “My Hero is a Nurse” raised more than $21,000 to support nurses. These are just two of the many artist-led fundraisers Play It Forward has supported.
We’d love to connect with someone who has helped a nonprofit grow and brings experience in business development, fundraising, grants, corporate partnerships, marketing or nonprofit strategy. You don’t need to check every box. Strategic thinking, relevant experience and a connection to our mission matter most. If you love music, even better.
You’ll work directly with our leadership and Board. For the right person, this project could begin a longer relationship, including the possibility of joining our Board of Directors.
Help us put more music to work for good.
We’re seeking a focused discovery and strategy project, about 10–15 hours over three to four weeks. You would review our platform, current programs, campaign results and existing materials, then speak with our leadership to understand our goals and constraints.
The deliverable is a concise strategy brief (about 2–3 pages) with:
• An assessment of what’s working and where we have room to grow
• Two or three recommended priorities across artist recruitment, visibility, funding and partnerships, with the reasoning behind them
• Practical first steps for the next 90 days
We’ll provide the materials and discuss your findings together in a final call.
