We currently have no grant funding yet have spent quite a bit of investment to grant writers from the Indeed and Grant Guru platforms yet haven’t secured anything from any of our investments. We feel like we haven’t secured a grant because the writers had lack of focus on the basics of what is required in a highly appealing grant. They also had problems identifying appropriate funders such as the National Endowment of the Arts. We are now stronger than ever with about 40 more professionally produced radio shows that aired on KTYM, KDYA and KKLA radio. Proof of concept has been well established for the UCY radio show in Los Angeles and San Francisco, CA, radio markets #2 and #4 respectively.
Grant Writer Needed for Youth Media Workforce Program
Urban City Youth (UCY) is a Los Angeles 501(c)(3) nonprofit seeking a volunteer grant-writing professional to help grow our youth workforce-readiness program.
Since 2014, UCY has given young adults ages 18–25 hands-on experience in radio and media production. Participants plan and produce a weekly, 58-minute radio show on KTYM titled “the Urban City Youth Radio Show)” developing skills in broadcasting, interviewing, teamwork, and content creation.
UCY has produced approximately more that 100 radio shows that have aired on KTYM, KDYA, and KKLA, radio. Graduates have gone on to podcast production and work in the Hollywood media arts community.
The project: Help UCY identify 5–10 promising funders and develop a strong foundation for future grant applications. Depending on your expertise and availability, this could include a reusable grant narrative covering our organization, community need, program, and outcomes and/or one tailored proposal. Funding would support production at the KTYM media center.
