About the Opportunity

Grandmothers’ Village Project is seeking an experienced community engagement professional to help strengthen our outreach, partnerships, and relationships within the communities we serve.

The volunteer will become familiar with GMVP’s mission, vision, values, long term vision, Indigenous-led approach, current projects, and the communities we serve. Using that understanding, they will help us identify and prioritize community organizations, nonprofits, elder-serving organizations, local institutions, potential partners, and other stakeholders whose work and values align with ours, and recommend effective approaches for GMVP to engage them.

Our goal is to build authentic, mutually beneficial relationships that strengthen GMVP’s community connections, partnerships, and long-term work.

The strategy should include:
• A prioritized list of community organizations, nonprofits, elder-serving organizations, local institutions, and other potential partners whose missions and work genuinely align with GMVP.
• A brief explanation of why each identified organization or stakeholder is a strong potential fit.
• Recommendations for how GMVP can approach and engage different types of prospective partners.
• Strategies for reaching and engaging elders and other community members in the areas GMVP serves.
• Adaptable outreach messaging or templates for different audiences.
• A simple system for tracking outreach, contacts, follow-ups, and developing partnerships.
• Recommendations for moving promising initial contacts toward meaningful, mutually beneficial, long-term relationships.

The final strategy should provide GMVP with a realistic and actionable roadmap appropriate for a small, volunteer-led nonprofit, rather than recommendations that require substantial staff or financial resources to implement.

We prefer applicants that reside in Massachusetts or the New England region and have familiarity with the local nonprofit and philanthropic landscape, but work can be conducted virtually.
