About the Opportunity

Place of Enlightenment, Inc. is a Georgia 501(c)(3) founded in 2010. We provide free food assistance, clothing, seasonal support for children, resource support, and community outreach through relationships with churches and families in Gwinnett County. We have five volunteers and no paid staff and have continued community service for approximately ten years without our own building.

We seek an experienced nonprofit fundraising volunteer to develop and help launch a practical 90-day fundraising plan with two tracks: (1) donations and grants for current free services, transportation, supplies, operating expenses, and paid coordination when funding permits; and (2) grants, major gifts, corporate support, and possible property donations to acquire a suitable building or property for community programs.

We have existing proposals, capital campaign materials, a capacity-building concept, and food-donation reports, but need qualified prospects, specific asks, ready-to-use outreach, and consistent follow-up. Review prior outreach to avoid duplicate requests. Distinguish acquisition grants from funding limited to programs, equipment, or renovations. Establish realistic goals using verified needs and cost information; label preliminary estimates.

Our separate affordable-housing effort on existing Ellenwood land remains subject to feasibility, approvals, and financing. Detailed housing underwriting is outside this project.

Proposed remote timeline: 6–8 weeks, with final workload agreed with the volunteer. David Murray, Executive Director, will be the primary contact. POE will approve and send outreach and maintain donor relationships. We seek fundraising strategy, capital funding research, donor communications, and leadership coaching expertise. No fundraising amount is guaranteed.

1. A 90-day fundraising plan with separate operating-support and property-acquisition tracks, recommended goals, weekly tasks, responsibilities, and progress measures.

2. A concise case for support covering POE's service history, current free programs, operating needs, and the value of a permanent facility.

3. A prioritized list of at least 20 qualified prospects across businesses, foundations, and individual-donor networks. Include fit, contact/application routes, recommended asks, and next steps. Individual prospects should come from POE relationships or appropriate introductions. Seek at least five verified prospects explicitly permitting nonprofit acquisition; if fewer qualify, document the gap and alternatives.

4. An acquisition grant matrix showing geography, eligibility, permitted costs, application routes, deadlines, published award ranges, match requirements, property/purchase-agreement prerequisites, source links, and date checked.

5. An outreach toolkit: operating-support appeal, business sponsorship letter, acquisition LOI, property donation inquiry, follow-ups, thank-you message, and donation-page copy.

6. An acquisition readiness checklist covering facility requirements, acquisition estimates, financial documents, and ongoing building expenses.

7. A simple prospect/donation tracker and leadership handoff, including donor-conversation coaching and review of POE's initial outreach round. Track funds received separately from pledges and pending requests.

Success: POE has realistic goals, verified prospects, complete outreach materials, a weekly follow-up system, and an initial outreach round launched by POE. Use accessible tools without new paid software. At kickoff, review records, priority costs, donor history, and availability. This assignment does not include real estate transactions, ongoing fundraising management, or detailed housing underwriting. Funding is not guaranteed.
