About the Opportunity

Treedom for Palestine has grown rapidly from a small founder-led nonprofit into an organization managing increasingly significant programs and institutional partnerships. Working with the Palestinian Farmers Union, we have now established more than 100 small family farms across the West Bank, planting more than 20,000 olive trees.

Our board, however, has not evolved at the same pace as the organization. We would like an experienced nonprofit governance professional to help us determine what the next generation of Treedom’s board should look like: the skills, networks, experience and perspectives we need around the table, where our current board has gaps, and how we should recruit strong new members.

We are particularly interested in building a board that can strengthen Treedom’s governance, fundraising capacity, institutional relationships and ability to scale responsibly.

By the end of the project, the consultant will provide Treedom with a practical board development and recruitment plan. This will include an assessment of our current board composition and needs; a recommended board structure and priority profiles for new members; clearly defined expectations and responsibilities for board members; and a strategy for identifying, approaching and recruiting strong candidates.

We would also like the consultant to help us develop the tools needed for recruitment, such as a board prospect matrix, candidate criteria and a concise board-member prospectus or recruitment package.

Success would mean that Treedom knows precisely whom it needs to recruit, why we need them, what we are asking of them, and has a practical process for bringing those people onto the board.
