Phoebe’s Safe Haven is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing safe, accessible, trauma-informed housing and support for women with disabilities who are survivors of domestic violence.
As we prepare to launch and expand our social media presence on Facebook and Instagram, we need additional graphic design support to create professional, accessible, and visually consistent content that communicates our mission, raises awareness, and encourages community engagement.
We have established our brand identity, developed social media guidelines, and begun creating educational and awareness graphics. However, changes within our volunteer team have created gaps in graphic production capacity. Our Lead Graphic Designer is assuming responsibility for work previously assigned to Canva Content Assistants while also supporting other organizational design priorities.
Although we have a strong creative foundation, our limited volunteer capacity makes it challenging to maintain a consistent production schedule, develop reusable templates, and prepare graphics for upcoming awareness, fundraising, and community engagement initiatives.
We are seeking a volunteer Social Media Graphic Designer who can collaborate with our Lead Graphic Designer to produce approved social media graphics, develop reusable Canva templates, and support accessible, trauma-informed visual communication.
Our goal is to strengthen our existing design process rather than establish a new creative direction. By expanding our graphic production capacity and creating sustainable design resources, we can maintain a consistent social media presence, reduce the workload on our existing volunteers, and increase awareness of the unique challenges faced by women with disabilities who experience domestic violence.
By the end of this project, Phoebe’s Safe Haven aims to have a collection of professionally designed, accessible social media graphics and reusable Canva templates that support our Facebook and Instagram awareness, education, fundraising, and community engagement campaigns.
The volunteer Social Media Graphic Designer will collaborate with our Lead Graphic Designer to produce the following deliverables:
1. **Social Media Graphics:** Create 6–8 branded graphics, including educational posts, awareness campaigns, volunteer recruitment announcements, and fundraising content, using approved messaging and design guidelines.
2. **Reusable Canva Templates:** Develop 5–6 customizable templates for educational content, announcements, awareness campaigns, fundraising appeals, and community engagement posts.
3. **Accessible Design:** Apply WCAG 2.2 accessibility principles, targeting Level AAA where applicable, including appropriate color contrast, readable typography, clear layouts, and inclusive imagery.
4. **Brand Consistency:** Ensure all graphics follow Phoebe’s Safe Haven’s approved color palette, typography, logo usage, and trauma-informed visual communication standards.
5. **Organized Design Library:** Deliver editable Canva files and publication-ready graphics organized using consistent naming conventions for easy access and future use.
6. **Design Handoff Guide:** Provide brief instructions explaining how existing volunteers can customize templates while maintaining accessibility and brand consistency.
**Project success** will be measured by the completion of approved, publication-ready graphics and accessible templates that our team can independently maintain and reuse.
These deliverables will strengthen our social media production capacity, reduce the workload on our Lead Graphic Designer, and establish sustainable design resources that help Phoebe’s Safe Haven communicate its mission consistently and effectively.
