About the Opportunity

Blue Wind Nature Camp is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organisation in Livingston Manor, New York, dedicated to providing nature-based recreational and educational experiences, particularly for underserved youth.

We are seeking $13,000 to replace three traditional teepees for outdoor educational activities and cover associated professional engineering services.

Our challenge is identifying philanthropic organisations whose funding priorities align with our mission and developing a compelling grant proposal. We are seeking an experienced volunteer grant writer to help us identify suitable funding opportunities and prepare a professional proposal.

1. A researched list of philanthropic foundations and organisations whose funding priorities align with Blue Wind Nature Camp’s mission of providing nature-based recreational and educational opportunities, particularly for underserved youth.
2. One professionally written grant proposal tailored to the strongest identified funding opportunity, seeking support for our $13,000 project to replace three traditional teepees and cover associated professional engineering services.

The completed project will provide Blue Wind Nature Camp with a targeted list of potential funders and a grant proposal ready for submission, subject to any funder-specific requirements.

Organization Mission

Our mission is to provide underserved youth with meaningful opportunities to connect with nature through outdoor education, exploration, and hands-on experiences. Today’s children face unprecedented challenges to their psychological well-being, including a growing youth mental health crisis, increasing social isolation, excessive screen time, and the psychological pressures and potential dangers associated with social media. A growing body of scientific research demonstrates that exposure to natural environments is associated with improved psychological well-being, reduced stress and anxiety, enhanced emotional regulation, improved attention, and positive developmental outcomes in children and adolescents. Our nature camp seeks to address these challenges by reconnecting young people with the natural world. Through immersive outdoor experiences, we strive to foster resilience, self-confidence, emotional well-being, social connection, and healthy psychological development. We believe that access to nature is not simply a recreational opportunity but an essential component of healthy childhood development. Our goal is to make these experiences accessible to underserved youth who might otherwise lack opportunities to benefit from the restorative and developmental power of nature.
