Legacy Paws Rescue is looking for a volunteer systems consultant to build a simple welcome-to-first-day volunteer system with our Executive Director, then hand it off so our team can run it.
People reach out wanting to help all the time, and some have waited way too long to hear back. That breaks my heart, because a community of kindness should feel like coming home, not being put on hold. Our people are all over the place in the best way: community service folks who build and fix things on the property, college students who walk dogs, and families who just want to be part of something good. Our five acres is meant to be a place where anybody can show up, play with the dogs, learn something, and leave with new friends. I can't make that happen alone. It's going to take a community.
1. Inquiry form and response templates. A simple form and ready-to-send replies so everyone hears back within a few days and knows their next step.
2. Role menu and matching guide. Clear volunteer roles and a quick way to match people to the right fit based on their skills and time.
3. Short orientation. A simple first-day orientation covering safety, dog handling basics, and what to expect.
4. Roster, scheduling, and hours log. One place to track volunteers, schedule shifts, and log hours, including verified hours for community service volunteers and university partners.
What "done" looks like
All four pieces built, handed off, and walked through with our team. Not a pretty manual that sits in Google Drive, but a system that gets people moving and keeps everything from running through one person.
Timeline: 6 to 8 weeks
Tools we use: Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Drive).
Who we're looking for
Someone experienced in volunteer coordination or nonprofit operations who knows how to make people feel wanted and builds systems that actually get used.
If you believe everyone deserves to feel like they belong, we'd love to build something meaningful with you.
