About the Opportunity

Global Empowerment Network, Inc. (GEN) is a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C. We provide free education, skills training, legal information and referrals, and community assistance to people in need in the United States, especially women and immigrants, and women and girls in Afghanistan.

As a growing nonprofit with limited funding and volunteer capacity, GEN needs practical support identifying suitable grant opportunities and preparing competitive applications.

We are seeking a volunteer with nonprofit grant-writing experience who can work directly with our Executive Director to identify realistic funding opportunities and help prepare grant proposals. GEN can provide organizational information, program descriptions, and supporting documents.

To learn more about our mission and programs, please visit: https://www.globalempowermentnetwork.org

By the end of this project, the volunteer will:

1. Identify 5–8 relevant grant opportunities aligned with GEN's mission, eligibility, and current capacity.
2. Prepare a simple grant-tracking spreadsheet with funder names, requirements, deadlines, and application links.
3. Draft 1–2 tailored grant proposals, including program descriptions, expected outcomes, and supporting narratives.
4. Assist GEN with preparing and submitting at least one eligible grant application, if a suitable opportunity is open during the project.

The goal is to leave GEN with practical, submission-ready materials and a clear path to pursuing additional funding.
