Global Empowerment Network, Inc. (GEN) is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for underserved communities, especially women and immigrants in the United States and women and girls in Afghanistan.

GEN offers courses in English, digital literacy, financial literacy, career development, leadership, and practical life skills. We develop our own educational content but need creative design support to turn it into professional, engaging, and accessible learning materials.
We are seeking a graphic designer who enjoys creating educational resources that make learning easier and more enjoyable. Using GEN-provided content, the volunteer will design attractive workbooks, lesson booklets, and downloadable PDFs incorporating illustrations, icons, diagrams, exercises, and clear page layouts.
Materials may be colorful, black-and-white, or a combination, depending on the learners and subject matter. We welcome creative ideas and designs that work well on mobile devices and in print.
This is a graphic design project; GEN will provide the instructional content.
By the end of this project, the volunteer will deliver:
1. One professionally designed sample educational workbook or lesson booklet (approximately 5–10 pages) using content provided by GEN.
2. A reusable, editable design template for future educational materials.
3. A consistent visual style including typography, page layouts, icons, illustrations, and exercise formatting.
4. A print-ready PDF, a digital PDF, and editable source files.
5. Brief guidance on how GEN can reuse the template for additional courses.
The initial lesson will be selected collaboratively from GEN’s available curriculum.
Success means GEN has a polished sample workbook and a practical design system that can be used to create future educational resources for underserved learners.
